HOMELESSNESS
Homelessness is one of the most visible and troubling challenges facing our communities. It affects public safety, public health, and most importantly, real people who are struggling and need help.
I believe we can address homelessness with compassion and accountability. Those are not opposites.
We need solutions that get people off the streets and into stable housing, while also addressing the root causes mental health, addiction, and economic instability. Simply moving people from place to place or relying on temporary measures isn’t working, and taxpayers deserve better results for the resources being spent.
At the same time, communities have a right to clean, safe public spaces. Allowing encampments to grow without intervention helps no one—not residents, not businesses, and not the people living on the streets themselves.
In Congress, I will support policies that focus on permanent solutions: expanding access to mental health and substance-use treatment, supporting housing that includes services, and improving coordination between federal, state, and local governments so efforts are effective and accountable.
Homelessness is a serious problem that requires practical action, not political theater. My focus will always be on results—helping people regain stability while keeping our communities safe and livable.
